St Gregory's Catholic Primary School

'For every future, for every child'

MFL

Statement of Intent

At St Gregory’s our MFL programme for KS2 aims to celebrate a wide range of cultures, focusing on daily life, celebrations and traditions, food, music and fashion. We look closely at the similarities between other cultures and our own as well as celebrating the differences between them. The curriculum is designed to progressively develop children’s skills in language acquisition. Children progressively acquire, use and apply a growing bank of vocabulary organised around topics. As a tool to immerse our children in the MFL curriculum we aim to incorporate authentic foreign speaking visitors, culinary experiences and enquiry days to fit in with the International Calendar. All of these approaches help to equip our children with the skills to be confident global citizens.

At St Gregory’s we believe that everyone has the right to practice their own culture, language and religion (Article 30)
