Read Write Inc sessions are continuing on YouTube for the children each day. For those children in Miss Clifton's group they can practise Set 2 sounds which are now on a loop; this is what we would do if they were in school. It allows the children to master reading and writing these sounds, in words, effortlessly before they move onto Set 3 sounds. (Set 3 sounds would usually be taught when the children begin Pink books or move into Year 1) Below you can find multi-syllabic words; set 1 for Miss Usmar's group and those containing Set 2 sounds which would be the next step for the children in Miss Clifton's group before moving onto Set 3 sounds.
To read these the children would read one syllable at a time eg. in the word standing the children would read "stand" and then "ing" and put the two together to read the whole word "standing".
Week beginning 30th March - Challenges for Nursery and Reception
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Play a board game together as a family, practising taking turns and following a set of instructions.
Physical development
Can you practise pegging pairs of socks on the washing line or airer? (a great activity to strengthen finger muscles)
Communication and language
Ask your child to find three objects from around the house. Can they hide them in a bag and describe them to you so that you can guess what the objects are?
Literacy
Find 10 green things and write a list of them (nursery children can draw and make marks with meaning)
Maths
Shape hunt - ask the children to search round the house to find different shapes. Reception children could choose a way to record what they find.
